We serve as the Head Librarian at Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (www.apts.edu) in Baguio, located 150 miles north of Manila.
Our work ensures that the learning resources available to students and faculty fully and adequately support the seminary's curriculum, the research needs of the faculty, and the requirements of the students' assignments. The collection totals more than 61,000 items, gathered over a period of 50 years through the generous donations of the Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade (BGMC) in the USA, donations from individuals, and various estate sales and purchases at various antique and specialty book shops in the USA and Asia.
The school offers graduate programs in the areas of theology, intercultural studies, ministry, the Master of Divinity degree, the Master of Theology degree, and the Doctor of Ministry degree. The students come from 34 nations in Asia, and usually return to their home nations to serve as pastors, evangelists, missionaries, Bible school faculty, church planters, Bible school planters, and national church leaders, more than 1,200 graduates in total over the years. Special Jubilee celebrations for the 50th anniversary in March, 2014, will include the main speaker Dr. Prince Guneratnam, pastor of Calvary Church in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and current Chair of the Pentecostal World Fellowship (PWF), as well as many other distinguished guests and attendees.
Our immediate project before us is to make digital copies of our entire collection for safety and preservation from natural disasters such as typhoons, flooding, landslides, fire, and building collapse. We oversee 3 staff librarians, 3 student helpers, maintaining 84 open library hours weekly, from 8am to 10pm, Monday through Saturday.
