We are involved in several areas. First, we serve as a faculty member and seminary librarian for Asia Pacific Theological Seminary. We interact daily with the 100+ graduate students who come from 21+ nations located around the Pacific Rim and southeast Asia. The library is the largest of its kind in Asia, comprised of about 59,000 volumes for the masters and doctoral programs that we offer. We manage 7 staff to keep the library open for students 84 hours per week. Presently, our project is to digitize the entire collection for preservation and security. The collection is worth over 3.2 million in US dollars, and this will be the best means of insuring against damage or loss due to natural disaster. Our area of the Philippines is susceptible every year during the 6 month monsoon season to extreme flooding and landslides.
We also work alongside a young pastor in our local church. The church of some 30 members and adherents is located just outside the school gates in a small mountain community called Tiptop, and the church name is Tiptop Christian Assembly. Besides preaching duties each month and helping on the worship team, we assist in any way we can with finances, such as providing the ride in our STL van to the baptismal sites for baptisms and rides for special church outings.
